Discover the wilderness, the wildlife, the mountains and the lakes in northern British Columbia, Canada. With Claw Mountain Outfitters you explore the untouched, pristine Canadian nature in a “Back to Basics” way: on foot, on horseback, or on skis. Luxury for us means nature’s silence, away from computers, mobile phones, and packed roads. Because, only then do you experience nature at its best.
We make our trip from A to B, which is a unique specification about Claw Mountain Outfitters. There is always an itinerary but not a tight, rigid day-to-day schedule. There is enough space for own initiatives. At the end of your trip, we take you back by floatplane, where your trip started. Adventures with us in the wilderness of Western Canada are never the same. Our team takes you along lakes and rivers. You pass through valleys and alpine meadows, over mountains, and fields. Here nature determines the rhythm. The sun, the animals, and the climate. Rain can change a simple trip into a challenging and strenuous journey. Sometimes it can turn a quiet river into a wild one, so we can not cross the river. Therefore we must adjust our route.
What do you prefer during your journey through nature? Do you want to be active during your holiday and push yourself to the limit? Then our hiking adventures are perfect for you. During the hiking days, you hike through nature for about four to eight hours a day. On rest days we stay in beautiful locations where you are free to do what feels right to you. You can relax completely in the most impressive spots. Read more about hiking trips.
With Claw Mountain Outfitters, you ride on horseback through the real Canadian wilderness, together with a guide and wrangler. The horses very much feel your energy, even at a distance. So it is not only fantastic to discover Canada on horseback, but also a nice psychological experience. During the trip, you will get to know your horse. You can see how he spikes his ears and the way he sniffs to warn you when he smells wildlife. Read more about horseback riding trips.
Winter adventure through the vast, white wilderness of the Omineca Mountains is beyond comparison. On this trip, you will not only make day trips on which you return to your cabin at the end of the day, but you will also cross country ski from our cabins at Black Lake to our cabins at Toodoggone Lake. Enjoy the beauty and silence while you travel with your friends. Your gear will be transported to you. Read more about winter adventures.
Capture the beauty of Belle Lakes, the pass to Sheepcamp, the waterfall at Toodoggone Lake, the vastness of the valleys, the roughness of McClair Creek, the ravine through which it flows, the impermeability of willows, and dwarf birches. Each and every one of them provides fantastic opportunities for stunning images. Not to mention the Canadian wildlife, the flower, and the weather. Photograph the setting sun, the rainbow and if you are lucky, the northern lights. The biggest chance of seeing this magical phenomenon is during our August trip. Our journeys are great for photography. Whether you are a professional photographer or photography is your hobby, the wilderness of British Columbia offers some of the most photogenic sights in the world.
Actually the wilderness of British Columbia is a place where you can easily roam for months without having seen it all. So enjoy your trip with us to the full extend and take in the beauty of the best that nature has to offer us. With Claw Mountain Outfitters there is a lot of freedom to express your preferences during the trip. Contact us to discuss the possibilities for your adventure in Canada.
As travelers seek new and different experiences, adventure tourism continues to grow in popularity. Adventure tourism, according to the Adventure Travel Trade Association, is a tourist activity that includes physical activity, a cultural exchange, or activities in nature. You don’t necessarily have to go base jumping or go scuba diving with sharks to be an adventure tourist (although those activities qualify).
From our base camp at Black Lake in British Columbia, we make our way through the wilderness of Western Canada.
During your active vacation, our guides will take you on unique routes while you ride, hike or ski through real nature.
Back to Basics, it implies the simple life, no luxury, no warm/cold running water, no electricity, and sleeping under the stars.
The wilderness of British Columbia is a place where you can easily roam for months and do whatever you want.
