Our Vision

Back to Basics, it implies the simple life, no luxury, no warm/cold running water, no electricity, sleeping under the stars, …. resulting in a very small footprint on the environment, time to talk, enjoy life, fishing, canoeing, the horses, the hiking or the skiing, preparing meals on an open campfire, picking berries, …. So many things that will make you realize that there is more in life than the way most people live their life nowadays. With any luck, you will leave the Omineca Mountain feeling a different person with new objectives in life.

Our Mission

We have reached our objective if those who travel with us, leave with that special feeling: knowing that life is about making choices and following and realizing your dreams not about just making money and living life in the fast lane. This mission has led to Claw Mountain Outfitters' decision to be out there with small groups. Everything we bring in is taken out, and we bring in only those things that are necessary for having a very memorable, adventurous holiday, with friends, family or by yourself.

Rick Solmonson is the manager for Claw Mountain Outfitters and is the guide for the Horseback trips. During the past 40 years, he has roamed most of the wilderness of Central and North British Columbia on horseback. He started organizing Horseback trekkings in 2010. Each time he is happy to see travelers arrive as clients and to see them leave as friends. Rick has a great passion for horses and nature in general. There is nothing he likes more than sharing this with others and is therefor more than happy to take you along on a wilderness adventure. An adventure that will change your life.
The Hiking adventures at Claw Mountain Outfitters are guided by Bert. He has been a guide with us since 2015. His first encounter with the wilderness in Western Canada, British Columbia dates back to 2001. After reading an article about following a training course in B.C. the decision was easy. A year later he completed the training and got his International Wilderness Guide license. Most of this training was done during a 3 months stay in the wilderness around Atlin. There he was trained in surviving, crossing rivers, finding edible plants, fish, etc. After his guide training, he made a long journey in which he hiked from Atlin to Fort Nelson in over 3 months. A distance of more than 1000 km through northern B.C.’s wilderness. According to him, still one of his most beautiful experiences. During this trip, he crossed the Ediza area, characterized by an endless plateau with eternal ice and volcanoes, the Spatsizi Plateau and also the areas where he has been guiding for Claw Mountain Outfitters for several years now.
